Trauma-informed therapy recognizes that trauma can be caused by a single event, such as an accident or assault, or several traumatic events, development trauma, a history of prior physical injuries, medical or surgical intervention, childhood abuse, emotional or physical or sexual abuse. This trauma can lead to a myriad of psychological symptoms and issues, that may persist even long after the exposure to the trauma.
I specialize in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Treatment exploring recent or unresolved trauma exposure. I help my clients move through trauma, in a tolerable way while increasing self-regulation and healing. One of the techniques I use is called Somatic Experiencing®, which uses attention to the body to help my clients break free from the past to experience healing.
“I have worked to develop a safe, gentle, and effective way for people to heal from trauma. It works by understanding that trauma is primarily physiological. Trauma is something that happens initially to our bodies and our instincts. Only then do its effects spread to our minds, emotions, and spirits.”
